Regulation on things found on trains and at stations

In force

1. A thing found on a train is handed by the conductor to the duty officer of the station where the train ends; a thing found at a station, to the duty officer of that station.

2. The duty officer enters the thing in the register of found things under a number of the form YY/day-n and keeps it for one month.

3. Identity documents, passports and bank cards are not kept by the railway: they are handed to the Gendarmerie on the same day and are not published.

4. A thing is returned to the person who describes it and shows an identity document, against signature in the register.

5. The passenger services department publishes each Monday on the railway's site a list of the things found in the four preceding weeks. Things not claimed in a month are handed over or disposed of by a commission of the station.
