Freight is most of the railway's work: refined products from the Nurzhan refinery, grain, refrigerated beef from the export zone at Talas, antimony and cotton lint. Nearly all of it goes to or comes from the Kazakh network, with which trains are exchanged at the Talas North Terminal and the Nurzhan rail border station.
